I have the S line A3 with the 18” x 7.5J ‘5-parallel spoke’ design wheels

I would be interested to hear from anyone with different wheels (in particular 17") what the offest (ET value) is

Basically im thinking of getting some winter tyres and what to know what the offset is on the other alloy wheels. So much on the internet refers to the old shape, and even then I find conflicting info

The 18” x 7.5J ‘5-parallel spoke’ design has an offset of ET51 if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately the ET value is printed on the back so you might need a mirror and a bit of luck

Thanks

I too will be looking to get some winter tyres next winter but was thinking of sticking with standard 18in S3 wheels. Not sure there is any benefit dropping a size unless you are using in snow conditions.

According to the ETKA parts catalogue the three 17" wheel designs shown in Price and Specification Guide, the C9X, the CH2 and the CJ1 have an ET of 51. If you want to know the figures for any of the others just ask.

Hi PilotAudi

There is a lot more choice of 17" winter tyres. 18" seems to be a bit limited from my research.

Looks like the new A3 favours an offset of 51 which is a little unusual going by whats for sale on ebay, so want to find out of there is a range of offsets supported.

h5djr - thanks for the info - where did you get this from, and does this source have any more info on this sort of thing.

I've sent you a PM.

Just out of interest the list price from Audi of the wheels are: C9X £399 each, CH2 £399 each and CJ1 £426 each.

h5djr - thanks for that info! really useful

I think im going to keep an eye out for someone selling their 17" wheels. Ive seen 2 or 3 ebay listings for people upgrading their 18" so fingers crossed

If you search for something like 'audi a3 8v 17' on the German ebay site (.de) you'll often find genuine A3 (8V) wheels listed, many of the listings show photos of the wheel rear showing the stamped offset info etc.

I'm still with PilotAudi. I am running 18" winter tyres right now and found a wide choice for this size, including all of the top rated brands. It does avoid the hassle of messing with offsets and compatibility.
