A3 sports back is What Car "Car of the year 2013" & "Small family car of the Year 2013".
got voted earlier in year as best in category and overall winner, so seams the A3 in all guises is doing really well for Audi.

Whenever the 8v first came out and in which country a A3 still won last years award. But I doubt if it was the previous model, too long in the tooth. Beside the Saloon has only just come out in the UK, thus, if you read the article, the choice was based upon European cars.

Edit: having looked here Compact Cars: Audi A3 | The Golden Steering Wheel AE must have misprinted. Still it was an A3 and Audi should be congratulated on producing a winner two years in a row...

If the £33,240 OTR price is correct (quoted on AE website review) for the S3 saloon manual, that means it carries a 2k premium over the S3 Sportback. 2K for a less practical boot space, no thanks!. I can't see it having much appeal in the UK market.

I would have said that about the A3 saloon as well but it seems to be popular here.

Personally, I am not overly impressed by the A3 saloon but there is someothing about the S3 saloon which makes me want one, maybe its the fact that it looks a "bit of a dog" IMHO but will pack a hell of a punch
