A fun one. What is your car nickname history? I've only ever had a Renault Clio called Chloe and a BMW 1 series called Bella! I'm still deciding on the S3! I have a feeling that it needs to be a name which conveys power more so than the other 2, so I was thinking Elenor... from gone in 60 as I'm probably never going to own a 67 mustang!

Good question.

We only tend to name ours dependant on what reg we get.

My wife's first training car (she's a driving instructor) was UMU, or ooomoo as we called it, and my current mini is FNZ so it's the Fonz.

No real others of note. S3 - surely it's a Lucy isn't it?

My fiesta was called Dudley because it was small and from Dagenham, like Dudley Moore. MR2 was called Roxy because the reg started with RX, Focus was called Fergus no idea why (wife chose that one). I had a Datsun stanza called Sushi, because it was Japanese and smelled of fish (long story) many years ago. We currently have a Mondeo called Granny (because it's reg ends with GRX which is the airport code for Granada in Spain, we work in aviation) and a Nissan Micra called Myrtle (wife's choice again).

Strangely we've always struggled to name my Audis. I've owned an A4 avant, an A5 and as from March '14 an S3. I was thinking maybe Keith?

***:lmfao: dont you just love em!

We've had a few names for our cars

Peugeot 206 was called Polly, my Alfa Romeo was called Alfie, my wife's A3 8P is Audrey. I've got a Mazda 6 at the moment and haven't named it as it was always a stop gap whilst waiting for for S3 to be released.

Naming my s3 is really hard I've actually thought about this more than I did for our children. Haha. #donttellthewife current thought is Esther.

You give your car names!?

Have you honestly spent so much time on this forum that you've run out of sensible things to talk about lol?!

All our cars have names usually relating to model colour or colour or number plate.... over many years we've had

Eric (as in Bristow) was a Golf GTi R '180' ***
Bridget 'the Midget'
Fudge FFG reg
Marvin because the car 'sighed' like Marvin in Hitch hikers guide
PIG PGL reg
Roxy RXY reg

I could go on... but basically I reckon if you love your car s/he has to have a name!

The wife's jaguar is called "the Jaaggg"
My S3 is called "the Audi"

Not particularly original I know.

Previous 2 cars:

4.7Ltr V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee, "Tinx" as in Tinkerbell (Irony) lol

1997 Subaru Impreza Catalunya edition, "Cat"

This is also the reason for my username on here as I was heavily involved with the local Subaru club and had the same username ;)

You lambast those that want to have a private plate on their car, but openly admit to giving your car ridiculous names........

I don't see the connection... I just think PPs are totally pointless and more fitting for BMW's and Chav mobiles... Some of our car names are established from the Reg no... RXY = Roxy.. BUT I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one... Just take a look at the sort of vehicles with PPs and you will get it!

You've got some strange ideals and stereotypes.

I have seen the very same car in the car park of a hotel I stay in regularly near Darlington in County Durham, got a pic of it somewhere, and thought obviously got a personality disorder or something if they have to spend a small fortune pretending to be someone else.

Miranda S3 like it.. although hardly a little racer.. Abby maybe??

True. And better than "The Audi"
Glad I am not alone in this quirk.

So for the S3, I've got it. It's German, looks great from every angle and goes fast, it's gotta be Sina!

In a vein similar to Leeber, mine is call Linford as when I first picked it up and was getting used to the S-Tronic box, it had a real habit of sprinting out of the blocks at junctions. Usain didn't have the same ring to it.....

My glacier white 1.8 A3 has been called "Snow" since 3 months before she was born. She is gorgeous and my wife is very jealous.
Andy

Ok, excuse the resurrection of a very old thread but starting to think about this again as D-day is on the horizon. I've ordered an Estoril blue S3 so currently thinking that 'Esther' might be somewhat appropriate. Only problem is that SWMBO has a cousin of the same name.

Anyone else naming their new rides?

Will need to see the new arrival first and what reg no we choose. W * 14 ***

My daughter named mine weasel on account of its registration number...

You are selecting a specific reg?
Surely you'll just take whatever is allocated by Audi rather than have a personalised selection?

They have a selection. Not really fussy but sometimes there is a nice one. Wouldn't pay for one though.. ;-) hope you're not trying to wind me up CRA 1 G ??
