    184 Quattro *manual*?!!!

I know I've been banging on for this for a while now but... FINALLY just had the long awaited test drive in a SB S Line TDI 184 Quattro S Tronic... (I've wanted a manual version of this car ever since I lost my 8P 170 Q man after it was damaged during delivery 18 mths ago...). Ok, so I think I can live with the S Tronic, but I'd still much rather a manual. However, just at the point of talking to the dealer about re-speccing a dealer order for Jan delivery and plonking my deposit down, he mentioned that Audi now decided to offer a MANUAL option on the Q3 177 TDI engine (previously S Tronic only...). Nuts! Now do I wait to see if they do the right thing and add a manual A3 TDI 184?...

It's obviously a big deal for you so if I were you I'd wait and see. No point in spending £35K on a car that you only think you could maybe live with.
A3 SB S-Line TDi 184PS Quattro S-tronic. Shiraz Red, Tech Pack, Comfort Pack, B&O, Sunroof, LED lights, lots of other stuff.

    Hi Pembs,

personally the Q3 is setup as a Quattro prominent vehicle, (eg. all models are quattro, except for 2 front wheel drive TDI manual only versions only, which let's face it won't be there best sellers). So customers looking at a Q3 are looking for a small quattro SUV with a lot of choice of engines and gear boxes.

Whereas the A3 is available as a better all rounder for different life styles. As you know, the A3 TDI Quattro 184 S-tronic is the A3 flagship, you may have a long wait for a manual version of this, and it may not even be built.

It's also like the A3 2.0 Turbo petrol 220BHP, will this engine be dropped in the new A3 range, or adding Quattro to a 1.4 COD?

Unless you know it is definitely coming from Audi, i personally wouldn't waste your time, and enjoy the car for now.

Agree- There will always be something on the horizon that will be better/faster/more techy etc etc just to keep you hooked and thinking about your next purchase or upgrade. When I ordered my 150TDI that was the most powerful diesel available but within a couple of months up popped the 184bhp version. If they release the 184 Quattro manual I am sure there will be another more techy/powerful option a few months down the line.

personally I am going to wait for the tribrid (petrol/diesel/electric) 240bhp Quattro double COD (Cylinder and Wheel on demand), 2 door coupe saloon with fluffy dice and 42" plasma screen version

But I don't want the next best shiny techy gizmo - I only want an A3 with four wheel drive and a manual box!... Doesn't seem like much to ask... :-(

Couldn't agree more! I personally think Audi are missing a trick here. I would have foregone a couple of options or stretched my budget to have a quattro in manual. Oh well.

We would have probably gone with a manual 184 Sportback Quattro but still no sign of one in the uk. Shame really we will have to make do with an S3, missus insisted we get a manual! ;-)

It was a similar situation with my saloon. I wanted a 1.4l manual but when they were first released it was only with the S-Tronic box. I was very surprised that then a couple of months later Audi released manual versions as I was expecting at least a 6 month wait..
Now a proud owner of a A3 1.4 tfsi Saloon S-Line, 6-speed, Daytona Grey, Technology Pack, Comfort Pack, Cruise, Advanced Key, Privacy Glass, Audi Parking System Plus, Interior Lighting, Folding Door Mirrors, Light & Rain Sensor. Hold Assist.
