My dearest beloved has climbed a curb in our new A3 and scatched the wheel. Yes I am a sad person, so would like it fixed. A local alloy wheel company has quoted £90 for a diamond cut alloy repair. Thought I would check with you before I booked the car in. Any thoughts?

That doesn't sound too bad to get the wheel all repaired to be honest. Certainly cheaper than getting a new wheel.

This is why I'm glad I took out the tyre and alloy insurance!!

I've only gone and done the same thing! My apprentice knocked my wall over a week ago so now it's just a very hard to see stump. Typical, just reversed over the edge of it and made a real nice job of scraping the wheel!

So any good repair/refurb places. I'm now Cambridge way.

Thanks guys

I live in St Neots and have had new Audi alloys repainted by Pristine Alloys wheels in MK. They have done it twice of different cars and always make an excellent job. telephone: 01908 282 628

Also Vindis Audi in Huntingdon have don't some repairs on site and I would think all of the Vindis dealers use the same company.

Perfect!
Thanks for the info, will call tomorrow and see when they can get it done :)

I've managed to scratch my front near side alloy this morning and would like a proper diamond cut wheel repair.

Any suggestions in and around Derby? Thanks.

Perfect Paint of Milton Keynes tel 01908 216666 did a great job on a wheel on my previous A3 for £72.00

My wife just caught our three week old A3 yesterday and also in Derby area. Any ideas on a good repairer for me as well? Not boding well for the future though.

I'm in contact with a couple of different companies, will let you know how I get on. Many of them offer a courier service to collect and deliver the wheel once it's repaired so makes things easier. Lepsons in the South seem to get a lot of recommendations and also N8 who's on this forum.

In #2 Stef mentioned tyre and alloy insurance. Can't find it on the Audi website. Anyone have details?

cheers

I think it's dealer specific...........I'd rather just save the money and pay for it to be fixed *where I know they'll do a good job* it I ever damaged a wheel.

It seems to be a recurring theme, wife scrapes alloy. Why do you let then drive your car ?? .

As an attempt to make the thread more balanced and less sexist, my partners last car, which she had for three years, the alloys were still perfect. Unlike my old car where I seemed to be able to always scrape the front offside wheel for some reason.

In my house, there is nothing like my car, I don't think a car should bring problem in marriage.:p

Audi did mine for free and I didn't even have alloy insurance! Brilliant customer service. :)

Anyone know how long it takes for a diamond cut repair? Some sites say up to 7 days.

I did this to my S3 a month ago. I can only just bring myself to look at it, let alone take a photo.

It was the slightest of contacts at parking speeds. The kind of thing that a Rim protection Lip on most tyres would seem to have prevented - this seems to be missing on the Conti Sportcontact 5s - or is it the rim design.....?

I cleaned my alloys today, they should have a health warning as all the sharp edges have taken large chunks off my hands. I'll be more careful next time

7 days is about right!

I scratched my NSF wheel and it's currently in for repair.

Get the wheel back on Tuesday.

That will have been 9 days!

Been running around on the skinny spare wheel all week!

Wheel had to be sent away to a specialist repairer as the S Line wheels are diamond cut

I agree, the tyres should have a lip on them, my Jaguar XF had this lip and they were still perfect after 3 years. My Coulsdon wheel polisher is quoting 3 days - drop off on Monday, pick up on Thursday.

it seems to vary between 3 days and 7 days - im tempted to get a spare set of alloys but may get some aftermarket ones for winter
