Hi guys, this may seem like a silly question, with the 8v not been out long. But how long do you think it will be before audi release a new version/model A3. Im only thinking that i dont want to take delivery in Oct/Nov and then in March 14 a new one is out to order..

Any info will be much appreciated

Following most car manufacturers' approach, I would expect Audi to give the A3 a facelift in say four to five years time then perhaps a new model three years after that.

Just my thoughts and I may be way off.

If you like the car, go for it, there's no point worrying about changes. They will happen but I think they are a few years off yet!

I've had my SB for a couple of months, done over 5000 miles and really enjoying it!

It's a great car!

Most manufacturers are aware of this and will be clever about it, it's unlikely there will be a significant change to the range within 3-4 years to get you to buy with confidence that it will be current just long enough for you to start wanting a change and will then hit you with a new version to get to you buy another, thus begins the cycle.

Ahh right that is good to hear - so safe to say if i take delivery in oct on a 4 year pcp they wont be bringing a new model out in 2014/15 lol? Im new to the audi scene, how long was the 8p out for?

Ive test drove a 1.4tfsi sport last weekend, and loved it.. undecided on final options at the moment and the colour - amalfi/glacier white. And also price ha, did you manage to get a good deal ?

Look at the previous history and you'll get an idea (i've omitted the S3 and saloon from this):

1996 - A3 8L
1999 - A3 8L engine revision
2000 - A3 8L cosmetic Revision
2003 - A3 8P
2004 - A3 8P engine additions
2004 - A3 8P Sportback
2005 - A3 8P 3dr cosmetic revision
2008 - A3 8P engine and cosmetic revision
2012 - A3 8v
2013 - A3 8v Sportback

Based on this I would expect a cosmetic revision by 2016 with a completely new model following in 2018/19.

Thanks for that - very useful, and safe to say it makes it a little easier to buy, knowing it wont be 'old' as such after 12/18 months haha :happy:

Your 4 year PCP could well work out nicely for you with a new version arriving at the end of your deal!

spot on, and nicely put together.........

i chose the 8v as I think it's a platform that will last for a while before they change it and before it dates or looks old. I normally get bored of cars really quick but when I've just washed the new a3 I seem to like it even more each time I see it.

i think the 8l s3 dated really well and is still a fantastic shape , 8p not so much but the best ageing car for a while is the mk5 golf gti 8 years old and still looks current IMO.

Yeah very true, i am the same i get bored very quickly. But i am wanting to keep this a3 for the duration of the pcp thats why i am pondering so much with the options, to make the car future proof as such lol

I'm intending to keep mine for a while beyond the end of my finance, but then I don't know what new toys they will tempt me with next time around yet!
