The new A3

Nope rang my local Audi, saying possibly September but when I rang another Audi they said end of the year? Hmmm... U seen the video? Looks amazing!!!

They've been taking orders since this month, apparently. Don't know if anyone has a delivery date yet?

...and it just looks like the out going model with yet another facelift LOL. The interior looks quality though and I bet it moves the game on for small car quality.

For me, the interesting model is the saloon variant, there was a photo of one I posted in another thread and it looks fantastic.

Apparently the only part that resembles anything from the outgoing model is the gearbox. Audi has redesigned EVERYTHING because the car is the first to use VAG's new platform. However, sensibly Audi has retained the A3 'look'.

I do agree tho that the saloon looks cool and deserves an RS. I straight competitor to the BMW M1.

I would be ordering the new A3 now but unfortunately, it only comes in 3dr for now. The cabrio won't be out until late 2013...probably.

Not keen on saloon A3, should stick with hatchback.

But the new A3 is definitely derived from the A1, kinda looks stretched but still a nice motor. And after reading 1.4T they must be going proper 'eco' manic lol

I've been in one of these at Worthersse yesterday and i absolutely love it love it love it!!!
I know i said some bad things for this car some time ago but when you see it for real,
well everything is different and you fall in love with it right away!
The dashboard, switches,Navi, lights, ambient luming,..... great car that's all i can say.
Cant wait for new model S3 now,it's gonna be a beast ;)
Cheers

Any idea of when the new s3 in coming out?.

Not a very wide range of models at this stage. Hopefully it will have improved by the time the new Sportback arrives.

Thats quite alot of £££ for an a3 and the SB will be somewhat more!

Nice car, but not worth £23k for a 1.6 S-Line diesel.

Prices need to be reduced for me to get one. The 1.4 TFSI S-Line is £22,580.00, and that's not even the 138bhp one which I was aiming for. Looks like second hand for me, hopefully a dealer can get me a nice price. :(

£26,560.00 for a 1.8TFSI is silly, you can get a new GTC VXR for that price. All be it it's a Vauxhall compared to an Audi, but still, that's a lot of car for the price.

There is an article and basic test drive of the new A3 in this week's Auto Express.

it's been 9 Years Since the current Audi A3's have been out.

And They Haven't even improved the BHP in the 2.0 TDI ......

Not even by 1 BHP ....WTF is going on !!!! :motz:

2003 - 150 BHP 2012 - 150 BHP

Those prices are a joke

It depends on what is standard of the new car compared with the existing. The current 2.0TDI S-Line is £23,440 and the new one £1,440 more at £24,880.

But for example on the 2012 2.0TDI-170 SE Sportback that I have recently purchased I added £4,625 worth of extras.

Until we see the detailed standard spec and the option prices for the UK it's difficult to compare. I sure it will be more, but quite how much more is impossible to tell at this stage.

What is more than quite annoying regarding the costs, is that the head of VAG has already publically said that the new MQB platform reduces production costs of each car by something like 20%, so why are we seeing a price hike??

Also, regarding BHP, the new mk7 golf 2.0TDI is reportedly producing 190BHP, so that's presumably up from the current 170. the new A3 is stated above as 150BHP, up from the current 140, so we have to presume that the s-line will (eventually) come out in a 190BHP version, up from the current 170. However, the Seat Leon has been available in 200BHP 2.0TDI for some years, so why aren't the Golf and A3 also up to this level?

link to this information?

The TDI has never had more than 170ps from the factory in any of the VAG cars, maybe it's the 200ps (now 211ps) Leon TFSI that was being thought about?

Anyway, re the new 8V A3, I really like it, though I'm quite a fan of the A1 too. I quite like the direction the newer Audi's are going in.

Pricing is a bit steep, but then A3's have never been cheap brand new.

I love my S3 8L shape, but it is starting to look a bit long in the tooth I suppose. My wife has an 8P Sportback which is a great car and still looks fresh in my opinion, but the 8V really seems to bring it forward a few years.

Having said all that, hopefully S3 8P prices will soften next year!

anyone know when orders will be taken for new s3?

Eh? There's never been a 150PS A3 before, the 2.0TDI has always been 140PS and 170PS (or thereabouts within a few PS).

I'll be going down from the 170PS to the 150PS. As a company car, it's all about CO2 emissions and, with the draconian changes to the bandings from this year, the 106g/km of the 150PS engine looks very attractive from a tax point of view.

Ummmm should i wait then, for this ? lol x

I just hope the s3 has wide arches like the 8l! Otherwise that's Audi going down!

Entry level model is now SE? Seems expensive way in to the range. Hope they bring out a standard version for my wife's sake.
