    Oh deafinately. The media would have had a fit! However fair play to him for admitting that he's that one that cocked up. The BMW's done great! Really pleased for Kubica. Was good to see DC up there too because he's had nothing but bad luck so far this season. Massa had an eventful race too. Some great moves that he made stick.

    I was gutted for lewis, proper schoolboy error, I didn't expect that from him, looked blinding till that point, I was glad for kubica though a fully deserved win that which we knew he'd get soon anyway & great BMW teamwork too, nice that he did it on the track that he had that big smash last year too, dunno if there would have been uproar though if kimi had hit hamilton, there never is when ferrari do anything wrong , like when kimi took out sutil in monaco.

    I can't believe Hamilton stuffed it like that! What a stupid mistake! Kubica had a good race though, I think Hamilton and Kubica are the 2 best drivers out there at the moment. Hamilton is amazing when he is on it, it's a pity he makes stupid mistakes. I think that if Kubica was in a Ferarri he would skin Kimi and Massa most of the time. Like Hamilton he can run his car at Quali pace lap after lap in a race if needed.

    Those F1 engines are awesome Did you know that each cylinder fires 158.33 times per second when they hit the 19000 rpm limiter

    Our inferior engines only manage about 41 times a second

    I agree if there was anything rule related, Ferrari may be let off lightly, however I think that the British media would make a meal out of anyone that would crash into Lewis. Kimi's accident last race was a racing incident. He touched a wet patch and lost control of his car which resulted in him crashing into Sutil. This time round Lewis failed to see the red light at the end of the pits which is there for safety reasons which ment he went into the back of Kimi who was stopped. Same goes for Rosberg. Thats why they got a 10 place penalty.

    But again, Lewis was on fire up until that point! He was simply untouchable. I cant help but notice that his season has been more scrappy than last season. Thats 2 races in a row where hes made quite serious race mistakes (yes last race he was lucky enough to fall into his favour but still...)

    As for the engines, its mind boggling how highly strung pieces of kit they are!

    Nope, I'm sure you heard right! I think its the 1982 Brabham BMW BT50 that had a 1500cc engine and in qualifying trim produced 1500 bhp!!!

    Thats 1 bhp per cc!! Thats crazy statistics!!!! Considering it weighed in at about 500kg's thats 3000 bhp/ton!!!

    So who do we think will take top spot this weekend gents? On paper it should be Ferrari but the way the past 2 races have gone, I'm not even going to try and attempt to guess a winner! lol

    Hamilton has his work cut out starting from 11th at best... BWM should mix it in nicely too! Hopefully will be another cracker! Anyone know the rain dance?!

    Obviously I'd like a ham/kov 1-2 but highly unlikley that'll happen but like you say who knows at the moment, I wish heikki would gain a bit of confidence tho, to say he's using the same machinery as lewis he's always a fair way behind when hams not making school boy errors of course, LOL , but it's turning into an intresting season, I always thought it would be, BMW will be strong probably again, Iv'e got alot of respect for that team actually, they seem well organised and their principal Dr ??? seems to have a good attitude too and of course you can't do anything but be impressed with kubica of course, a very consistent driver.
    Can't wait till silverstone though, I'm going for the GP weekend + the last day of testing next week, I've never been to either before so looking forward to that.

    I have to agree about Kovy. He's really been disappointing so far. But to be fair he has had a couple of things go against him but I suppose if you're being measured up against someone like Lewis then anything but a podium will be disappointing!

    I really respect BWM too. They've only been around a few years and they've hit all their targets so far. Really come good in the past couple of years! And their disposable cash I imagine is nowhere near the likes of Honda and Toyota and where are they? Nowhere! Kubica is a name that will be remembered. No doubt about it!

    Test days used to be free to turn up to until last year! Used to go all the time but then they started charging people for that too. Now I've been to a few big sporting events and I've got to say... NOTHING comes close to the atmosphere of an F1 race! I'm sure you already know that you'll love it! I'd like to go and see the race at Monza at some point. Experience the tifosi!

    Didn't see the race today so dont know the details but I read about it so kinda of got the gyst of what happened. Was it an entertaining race? Credit to Kubica for getting 5th in a car that struggled. Trulli was a suprise up there too! The important question is whats happening to Hamilton? I think he beats himself up too much when things go wrong so he tries too hard to make things right again and it gets worse!

    It was a case of the FIA, sorry FTA (Ferrari Technical Assistance) doing over Mclaren yet again & giving hamilton totally unjustified drive through penalty therfore killing any chance he had of a podium,

    Nah coudn't stay awake! I've seen clips of the important bits in the race. I dont think that the FIA penalised McLaren out of spite this time round. They haven't got a reason to. You know that I like Hamilton and what hes achieved etc but I think that his 10 place penalty was justified. At the end of the day it was a safety rule that striggered it all off...

    As for his drive through... its hard to tell from the only view that they showed. They've already penalised him once so I dont think they'll do it again for the sake of it. To be fair to the stewards, they have been consistant with the overtaking off track business and have been handing out penalties to people who gain an advantage. Even Brundle said over the commentary as soon as it happened that it could be a penalty. I think he should have let him past again to avoid it. Like I said in my earlier post... he beats himself up too much when things go wrong and hes so focused on making it ok again that he loses the plot a bit. It happened last race when he lost 2 places in the pit stop and wasnt concentrating on the light, and again this race he wanted to make up all the places on the first lap. Experience counts for a lot!

    Having said that I'm suprised that they didn't pull in Kimi when his exhaust was flapping about. How did it break? Or did it just happen?

    It just happend, but after about 10 laps of flappping it flew off and it looked like it was heading for the crowd, I'm not been paranoid if that had been a Mclaren they would have been penalised in some way, Ive looked at the vettel move a few times and the only alternative ham had would have taken at least both of them out and he had already passed him so he didn't gain from it, also heikki in qualifing, there was nowhere for him to go and if anything nakajima stopped kovi from going anywhere else, & he didnt get a penalty & It's not like it stopped webber getting through to Q3 anyway, but I think hams 10 place drop from canada was totally justified.     I cant remember anyone else having their car fall apart as it was going round to that extent. If it was my call, I would have pulled him in because it could have been potentially dangerous to others so I'll give you that one. I'll also give you Heikkis penalty. It was a bit harsh considering he couldn't go anywhere as there were cars on either side of him. I'm still not sure on Lewis tho... I still think he should have pulled to one side and let him past and then have another go at him. Just wasnt his weekend from the start! The French really dont like McLaren! Politics is a ***** but its there.

    Lewis has got to clear his head for Silverstone and that'll be hard as its on home soil. He cant afford any more scrappy races. His mind set last year was perfect... nothing to prove. This year it seems he has everything to prove!

    One thing you can say this seasons been anything but boring, maybe a bit frustrating at times depending on who you support but always something to talk about lol,
    I'm off to testing on thurs mainly for camera practice, looking forward to that as it's my first time, always been an armchair supporter for years lol.

    Definately! Great season. What was that statistic? 4 different championship leaders in 4 races? It is a close one.

    You love it mate. Honestly... nothing can prepare you for the sound of an F1 car. Its insane! I took a mate to pop his F1 cherry once and 60% of all photos he took were of track lol! Let us know how you get on

    so will it be massa or kimi for the title this year ? does anyone else think mclaren are struggling because they don't have anyone to set the car up for them ? look how they have fallen back compared to renaults improvment ... theres only one common thing.

    I think its hit them a bit that Alonso left. Not as consistant as they were last year. But then again it could be the car and not the set-up. It was a risky game having two rookies in a top team but I'm sure they had their reasons. I think McLaren are wrong to have Lewis flying around everywhere doing PR stuff. It seems every day theres a new commercial out with him in it! Hes still a kid! Yes hes a mature one at that but still... He still needs a lot of experience, clear his head and get on with it. Hes had some great races this year, bit with a lot of mistakes in between.

    As for who will get the title, not a clue! It may not even be a Ferrari! Things are quite tight at the top and yes traditionally this is where Ferrari gets into its stride and start racking up the wins. Time will tell. I'm just enjoying the season! Great races so far.

    I've not got any issues with ferrari I think they have two great drivers, and the new boss seems ok infact all the teams are ok my issues are with the FIA and "Mad Max" maybe bernies suggestion of a new championship would be a good idea, a fresh start etc?

    Well apparently 80% of people in the paddock dont like Max. Its a case of the right people like him. Its all political. With all this sex scandal that went on, he said that he was thinking of leaving at the end of this year anyway (or was it next year, cant quite remember). Either way if there is another championship that opens up, it wont be run by the FIA which means that the new championship wont be allowed to do certain things because you'll only allowed to do them under the FIA. Dont really know details but it gets messy Hopefully it'll all be sorted after the Max era!

    So, you got your cameras all charged up for tomorrow?!

    I hope post max era it'll be more fair, word is it'll be jean toad, ferrari's old boss, I always thought Sir Jacky would be good, he speaks his mind, lol,

    Yeah got four sets of batteries charged, lenses cleaned, in fact all the gear but not much idea! lol, might be like your mate and get plenty of tarmac shots probably, the ones from tuesday test that someones posted up are quite good at least there all fairly central.

    I hope Todt doesn't get it because any decision that doesn't go against Ferrari will be surrounded in controversy. I think he'll do an alright job and that it wouldn't (hopefully anyway) be biased towards them. He's a smart man that does things right. So he comes across anyway!

    Yea the piccies that were put up were quite good! When I went on a test day a couple of years back a mate of mine brought out what can only be described as a cannon! He got some amazing shots with that! He got one pic of DC midway through Bridge and another one into Copse with his brakes glowing! Some wusses wear ear plugs. My advice... DONT! You'll be deaf by the end of the day but it'll be worth it! lol Have a good one matey

    Sod that I aint risking going anymore deaf , I lost it in my right ear a few years ago, ( too many sat nights with my ears ringing after gatecrasher back in the day, lol ),

    I went to the lmes at donnington a couple of years back & I couldn't believe how loud they were & I wasn't even that close to the track, & I've heard F1 is even louder, full on shooting ear defenders for me, LOL

    DC can moan and complain with the best of them, but he can also drive a car very quickly and has proved recently that he still has the skill, strength and stamina to mix it with the big boys. If he has a quick reliable car he would do well.

    Just been watching the 1st practice and Massa had a BIG off at Stowe. Alonso blew an engine, dropping oil and Massa was the next car through and lost it. Completely shattered the rear end of the car. I'm thinking possible engine change for him as it was battered!

    Also just announced that the British GP is moving to Donington as of 2010! Interesting move. I guess Bernie got fed up of waiting for Silverstone!

    This makes for interesting reading. Got it from the Top Gear website....

    Bernie Ecclestone may be 77, but he remains a player in the shrewdest sense. In one swift, silent move this morning, he wrecked what should have been the best weekend in the British Racing Drivers Club social diary. And he did it on their turf.

    Thats what the announcement about the Brit GP was all about. Forget all the talk concerning Silverstone to Donington in 2010 being because Silverstone is below par, or any of the criticisms that surface each year at this round of the World Championship.

    Ecclestone will deny it, but this is personal. Bernie dislikes everything the BRDC stands for. And one of the clubs many faults is that they did not see this coming. Call it arrogance; call it stupidity; call it sticking their head in the sand by mentally barricading themselves inside their lavish club house: the move to Donington was always on the cards. Damon Hill, the BRDC president, at least showed pragmatism when he said last week that the chances of keeping the Grand Prix were 50/50. In fact, it turned out to be about 99/1 against.

    As things stand, the move seems crazy as Ecclestone allows his feelings to jeopardise the British GP by taking it to a place that is not up to scratch. The investor in this move will need to knock down Doningtons facilities and start again.

    The track itself needs lengthening and brought up to F1s latest safety standards. The local infrastructure requires heavy revision to cope with the arrival of the F1 circus and at least 90,000 spectators (ask anyone trapped for hours at the recent MotoGP meeting).

    Who is going to fork out the 100m to do the job over five years? And who will pay the 13m (plus a 5 per cent annual escalator) F1 needs in order to bring the show to Donington?

    Not Tom Wheatcroft, the owner of Donington. Not Donington Ventures Leisure Limited, the circuits lease holder and operator. Apparently, there is a private investor who is also a substantial share holder. Naturally, Donington do not wish to reveal the identity of this person.

    I wouldnt mind betting it is Ecclestone. This way, he ensures the circuit and its facilities are exactly as he wants them. He also becomes the promoter, which tidies up the problem of paying F1 for the privilege of coming.

    I understand that plans have already been informally approved - but not passed - for a circuit extension. For a man worth at least 2.4bn, 100m is petty cash - particularly if he screws the BRDC in the process.
    You could argue that, since Silverstones investment plan required 30m to be spent in order to keep Ecclestone and F1 on board, then the money may as well be spent by someone else at another venue.
    There is also a view that Ecclestone has actually saved the BRDC from themselves because their master plan could have possibly taken Silverstone to the edge of bankruptcy. I am writing this in the media centre, overlooking the pit straight.

    Silverstone looks in very fine order indeed. The drivers love the challenge, most of them citing the Maggotts/Becketts complex as one of the best in the world. The circuit has a wonderful history, superb atmosphere and this race marks the 60th anniversary of the first Grand Prix here. I have seen more than half of them and very much regret that it has come to this.

    But it was inevitable - not necessarily for the best reasons.

    That is very interesting indeed and if it is true very funnig as well. Bernie is toally class imo, the BRDC are a bunch of wet puddings, they fight for more driver safety and better conditions for drivers. I mean like earning $18m a year and rarely getting in the top 10 is cosidered bad conditions and if they are worried about safety go and work in a bank!!
    Bernie has made F1 one of the most successful race series in the world so I think he can do what he wants and with a personal furtune of $2.4 billion he probably will!
    I just hope moving to Donnington does not cock up the British GP, Britain is pretty much the centre of technical excellence for F1 so we shuld have one of the best GPs. But I trust Bernie to make it a success more than Damon Hill though!
