I have noticed that this is running again this June at Bruntingthorpe. I woul dlike to go to a VAG meeting and as this is close to me I would like to go

Is there many Audi's (I have a 80) at a mainly GTI convention
How much is it

The pics look good from last year and would like some views from other posters
 
There is normally quite alot of Audis at the GTI show, I have been going for about 10 years now and there are a wide range of German models there (cars i mean)

The location is a lot better now, as it used to be quite a way out over previous years, so there is a decent turnout at its new home....As far as i can remember the tix last year were £17 per day, which i think is quite high!!

Anyway hope to c u there :)
 
Oh that good, privce not too bad. Ive requested osme information off autometrix who run the show so hopefully i will be there

Im also interested in the Audi driver international but thets not until october
 
I went to Inters and Audi Driver. Inters has been going steadily down hill for a long time, whereas Audi Drive has been getting better.

No doubt we will have a club stand. Normally we get 10 - 20 members each day. Good to have a club stand as you have parking closer to the action.

Agree with you there Jas, the problem with inters is it's more central for residents in the UK, but the show attracts a lot of interest from european VAG owners, so was more successful when it was further down south. Where it's held now though is very convenient for me to go though...
As for Audi drivers, the venue is just the right size for you to walk about, and no need to walk through a mud bath to buy a cheese and bacon baguette, ruining your pair of shoes/trainers in the process ala GTI Inters. Plus the added benefit of having a track to drive around makes it more fun than a 1/4 miles.
 
i do enjoy gti internation, as i got to take my car down the strip, think the entrace price is high, and the last year event wasnt all that, probably the rain to blame for that

edition 38 is good, as you get to camp out there,

Yeah Joe, couldn't agree more. I'm happy to drive 100miles plus if the show is going to be good. I was spoilt when Inters was in TRL Crowthorne at that is only 5 miles away. In the late 90's the show had a good mix of big traders and small specialists, but everything was car related and sold by people who cared.

Now a lot of the smaller traders won't go because they perceive the attendees are more 'tyre kickers and chavs' than the previous sort of attendee. I can remember the guys from AutoTechnik Southampton stopped going because they got put next to a chavtastic car audio stand two years in a row that just gave them all headaches thanks to their bass.

Inters have had to open the doors to the sort of stuff you would find at a market or funfair - the cheapo tools, the pick-n-mix, the 'win a cuddly toy if your ticket ends in a 5' tombola etc. I'm guessing they are doing that to make ends meet as the number of true car suppliers dwindles. I'd rather have more car stuff to look at than cheap knock-off tat.

I said after this year, with the pretty poor organisation - hey, we've got all this tarmac available but let's use the grass - I wouldn't go again. TBH I think I spent more time looking round the aircraft in the Cold War exhibition than I did looking at the cars and stalls, and I went home before 1pm. Perhaps I've just been too many times.

I think I'll keep the £20 in my wallet and wait until Audi Driver.
 
I also do both, and Audi driver was deffo the best organised. Previous years i felt it was a lot to get around in a day at GTI, this year i arrived at 1pm ish ( had to meet Quantam John for some shiney bits for my car and he was running late) and was on my way home by 5 ,bored.Didnt even bother with the second day, even tho it was bought and paid for.
 
used to enjoy inters but went year before last and hated it. Lost all its appeal and didn`t seem worth the money tbh.
 
I've been to GTi International for the last 6 years. The first one I went to was a proper good day out. Helped by a glorious day but it was a full day of good entertainment, cars, stalls and events.

Since the first event I attended I think each year has got progressively worse and last years mud bath was a complete farce. Waste of money and waste of a day.

No doubt I'll be back this year though :)

last year was a bit crap what with the weather and then after the rain came the blistering sun which made the back of my neck glow like the ready brek advert

Last years Inters was that bad we did the whole show in about 3 hours and that included standing at the strip for a while as well, as Jas said in the 90's at TRL, it was the place to be, we used to go for the weekend, sleep in the car, go back the next day for more GTI antics...oh those were the days....plus the price to get in was good as well.....

Nowadays, i have to say that the show to be at is Edition 38.

That was due to lack of alcohol :laugh:
 
I went to both last year aswell, and as above its no longer the sort of standards it was years ago, I will go this year if the weather looks as though it will be good-wont be booking in advance due to the swamp effect last year...Audi Driver was a different story-excellent day,think we should get a few more people go this year(hopefully?):icon_thumright:
