Alarmed by the increasing number of bear attacks against tourists, the authorities of Alberta - Canada issued 3 advices for everyone who ventures in the woods to follow:
1) always travel in groups and use a bell to make noise so any bear can hear and avoid them
2) always pack a pepper spray and if a bear attacks, spray it into its face
3) learn to recognize if a bear is close and what kind of bear it is by studying the poop on the ground:
- the black bear's (does not attack humans) poo contains traces of fur from rabbits, squirrels and other small animals
- the brown bear's (this one attacks humans) poo contains traces of metal from bells and smells like pepper
