Coil overs and insurance

I've been looking at a few RS6's especially ones that have had the DRC replaced/removed and gearboxes changed. When trying to insure the said cars and being honest about the suspension modifacation why do they jack the premium up £400 plus? Do you guys tell the insurance companies about the suspension change? Can anyone recommend an insurance company that know of the DRC issues? It's not as if it makes the car more stealable or faster, if anything safer.

This is your answer buddy, the car is modified from standard spec, wether it makes the car faster or slower, or corners better is irrelevant. Insurance companies deems it as a mod, and as such, will insure it in that way, for you to be fully covered anyways. And as suggested by skyinsurance, calling specialists who know about these mods may get you a cheaper premium. I know I've declared everything on my modded car and pay the premium, so I know I'm fully insured.

To be fair, I've always found 'big name' insurers cheaper than these modified specialists (not specifically Sky as I haven't tried them yet). Aviva didn't change my premium when I declared coilovers (I'm 20, was 19) and also didn't quote a change for bigger brakes. Not even a fee to modify the policy.

Because im with aviva and they told me they wont insure coilovers at all, they would only let me change my springs!!

I had to pay £55 for my lowering springs to be covered, although my new drilled and grooved discs were fine as they didnt change the size of the brakes.
