About LinkBacksIve had both an Ipod touch and an Iphone 3gs for a while now and have absolutaly no idea how to or even if its possible to convert a dvd i own or a video clip i have on my computer to play on either.

You could try 'Handbrake' which is a free download I've been using for some time with my I-phone 3G. It'll convert DVD discs as well as AVI, MPEG and DivX files for playback on any Apple device.
