Right I decided that now was the time to jump into HD technology, so I have a Onkyo 606 Amp and Sony BD-S350 waiting at home to install tomorrow.

I have a second pair of Mission 78DS to install first to give me a full 7.1 speaker setup. All will be connected into my Panasonic 42" Plasma (max is 1080i though).

I should also have free copies of Batman Begins and Casino Royale on the way from Sony on Blue Ray in the next 28 days.

I may see if I can rent Blue Ray discs from my local Block buster in the meantime.

You can defo rent Blu-Rays from blockbuster.

I too went Full HD a month or so ago as i got a really good deal of Sony 1080p 40" TV, PS3 and a nice stand for £850.

Blu-Rays look so good via the PS3 it makes watching normal telly a bit crap. It alos upscales normal DVD's well too. Plus the games look so good especially things like Gran Tourismo Prolouge in 1080p.

I also have a pc connected to my TV running in 1080p and some of the HD stuff you can download is as good as Blu-Ray imho.

If you wanna get anyones advice before purchasing anything AV related i reccomend trying out http://www.avforums.com/ a good place to find out real peoples views on equipment.

Already a member of AVForums, in fact if you search I did a thread on my home cinema room build up.

Just about to very carefully measure up where to drill the cables up to the loft to avoid hitting the central heating pipes in the loft - gulp.

Ok so your alot neater than me my wires for the surround system are hidden behind the sofa!

Avforums is great will always use them in future when it come to buying any new equipment.

Hope your cabling goes well and your in the world of Bluray before you know it.

All sucessfully installed, I measured 3 times in the end to make sure I wasn't going to drill into the central heating pipes.

The other side has the feed pipes (plastic) for the shower in our en-suite so I put a piece of wood under those to make sure I didn't drill into them.

BR player seems to handle DVD fine once I'd got the Audio config set up properly on the Amp and is multi-region as specified.

I've registered with Sony so hopefully I should get my free BR films in the next 28 days.

First hickup the Mrs in her Wisdom found some cheap High Def films and ordered them - HD-DVDs - with out checking with me first - oooops that's why they are cheaper than the BR ones. You've bought some betamax tapes.

Now you have some expensive drinks coasters :)
