thinking of selling my KEF Q5 floor standers for something smaller. Dont know what i could get that will get any where near the sound quality of the KEFs.

I dont want book shelf speakers, i want something thats midway between floor standers and bookshelfs.

Any ideas??

I have been thinking of getting these when I finally get round to decorating my living room.

http://www.mission.co.uk/system.php?system_id=1&range_id=13&type_id=8&sector_id=4

It's not the biggest living room I have now, so the floorstanders I already have (Mission 773) take up too much space.

Sammy, if your looking a good set of speakers, I could be persuaded to part with my system. 2x floorstanders, 2x bi-directional rears and 1x center channel. All in very good condition.

i love mission speakers! still cant beat the sound of the KEFS imo! shame because i prefer the look of missions!

i run the kef Q5 fronts, Cresta center, and Cresta rears on a Yamaha Hybrid (half valve half processor) digital amp!

the thing that does it for me with the KEFS is there all hand built buy a handfull of blokes in a factory in maidstone kent!
They will also build a speaker to your spec too (if you wanna pay for it)

i have used KEF for years and the more i write this thread the more im answering my own question!! lol

Thing is, when it comes to buying speakers for what ever application, it always pay's if you can audition the ones your interested in first. A thousand people could recommend a thousand differant speakers to the OP but at the end of the day it's down to the individual.

In other words, this is a perfect excuse for you to be buying What HiFi and going to specialist HiFi retailers to research what you want to get next.:). Happy hunting, and let us know what you decide to get too.

yeah always try before you buy, I've got the monitor audio RS6 and they are great speakers, I would look at the RS1 Silvers from MA or consider the BR5, they are slightly smaller floorstanders, Tannoy make some nice narrow floorstanders the other choice would be B&W fantastic speaker very good bass but the cabinets can be a little on the large size, in fact I swapped from bookshelf speakers to floor standers as they took up slightly less room. One thing you are going to miss coming from the KEF's is bass so perhaps a small sub to fill out the low frequencies might help.

Yes mate, I am fed up with the small output of my sony all in one system, How much do you want for them. I am happy to collect too.

Give me a few hours or so and I'll post some pictures up for you. And if your still interested pm me your e-mail address.

You might want to reconsider collecting cos I live in N.Ireland btw :p

But if your interested, I'll investigate the cost of a courier.

been shopping about today..... there seems to be not much on the market to suit my music style. (looking at the stats). im thinking im going to keep with the KEFS after all, i mite down grade to a set of smaller KEFs so at least i keep the quality. Thanks for your interesting comments.
