Does anyone know how to dismantle one of these little buggers?

The finger wheel on mine keeps sticking meaning that I can't use it to scroll screens up and down. I can see the join line just below the two side buttons but don't want to force it apart in case I break it.

It's the wired version btw.

not sure how you take it off tbh, but this is way putting me off getting one of the things... had a whole thread on uk-mkivs.net about these things and whether they always do this or dont and there was a complete split. the fact that loads of people complain about it tho... not great :(

have you had a look at http://discussions.apple.com/ ? :)

Found a tip in the feedback section on the Apple store.

Unplug the mouse from the keyboard.

Get a clean sheet of paper.

Turn the mouse upside down and rub the wheel in all directions against the paper for about 30secs.

Plug back into keyboard and viola! It works again.

It is possible to use other mice with the iMac but you loose some of the functions then. Above is a simple fix and apart from this small niggly problem I really like the mighty mouse.

I've used trackball mouses and they are far worse for collecting dirt. The mighty mouse has a minor flaw which is easily (I now know) fixed. Wouldn't let it put you off buying a Mac.

Cheers. Shall add WD-40 the next time I need to clean it.

A blast of compressed air around the roller wheel works for me.
