After taking several measurements, I have concluded that 245/40/17 tires mounted on 17X8 wheels will fit an Audi TT Quattro. There is a clearance of 20mm from the inside of the front tire to the strut with wheels at full lock; therefore going from 225mm(stock) to 245mm should work because only 10mm of the 20mm added will extend inward towards the strut. The rear appears to have generous clearance.
I am fairly confident in my measurements, but I would still like to know if anyone has had real world success with this extra width.

255/35/18 will fit under an s3, so probably will a tt too.

only problem is the awful tramlining and loss of handling - dont do it.

not sure whether you need to know if it will fit, or if its any good.

they will definately fit

they wont improve the car.

dunk,
I understand what you are saying, but to base my decision on your isolated experience would be foolish- I would like to hear from a variety of owners. Perhaps your tramlining is the result of an alignment issue (too much toe out), maybe your loss of handling resulted from your larger/heavier wheels or lowering the car too much. They fit under your S3- you cannot be sure that they "definately" fit under a TT. Has anyone actually experienced sidewall rubbing?
