Hey guys, hope you can help.

The noise occures whenever the stearing wheel is turned, whether the cars stationary or moveing and it's getting progressively worse

I can only describe the noise as squeaky, kind of like it's a really dry bearing and it's ****** irritating.

I'm planning on jacking the car up at the weekend and removing the wheel to see if there's anything obvious. Can anyone offer suggestions of what to look out for?

Thanks

Would be worth checking your Power Steering Fluid first. I had a similar noise and issue and it came down to no fluid, once topped up all is good. The noise is the groaning and creaking from the sterring pump

Thanks for that Jester. I've checked the level today and it's ok - arrrrhhhh! I had my fingers crossed on that one.

I want to avoid sending it to the garage, or at least have an idea what the issue is before they try and :asskicking:, lol.

Just thought. One other time I had a screeching noise was when the outer CV boot had split and come away so was catching when turning - other than that pass.

Thanks for your help mate. I've got it booked in now. Although I'm now also having electric issues. Think it's the alternator. Great!!!

Just an update in case it helps anyone else with similiar issues. The squeaking type noise was due to the lower curved suspension arm. £130 + VAT + 1 hour labour from an Audi specialist and all is well.
