i own an audi a4 1.8t.....and i have one problem. its not a quattro. im not sad. but as is with all performance, i am not satisfied. i must have that quattro. is there a way i can just connect the front and rear to make it somewhat "quattro"? i know that i WILL get the answer: juss sell and buy a quattro, but u know what? thats not possible (various reasons). so if anyone can tell me if it is possible to "experament" with putting lighter shafts to connect the front to the rear : what would i need or is it even possible? im sure it would cost a pretty penny but if theres anyone with KNOWN or estimated prices, all will help. thanx

I had the same problem, but I sold it and bought a quattro. You didn't want to hear that though, did you? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Someone probably know's a lot more, but I think it runs a lot deeper than extra driveshafts. You have the Torsen diff and, if I recall correclty, it fits someone in the front around the gearbox (maybe in it). The rear suspension is also different. Lots of work /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Probably the best you could do is to fit a good traction control system, like race-logic, combined with better suspension and wider tyres. There's a lot of smart folk on here though, maybe someone has actually done the conversion. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i agree, i tried quattro recently, now i've bought one, the difference is unbelievable, traction control just isn't on the same level
a quattro is designed from the bottom up for everything to work correctly, very different from the fwd,
its unfortunate but 4wd isn't a cost effective mod, it isn't a bolt on either
i looked into it also at one time and in england people would do it for 3000 pounds
