Just a quick question, My back two tyres have worn very uneven on the inside edge. When you run your had over the tyre you can feel the tread going up and down. The outside edge is ok, when i spoke to Audi this chap called Darren from York Audi said they get alot of the same problem with the TT???????? Audi say its not a set up issue I.E A bush gone and the tyre company say its not them. Has anyone had the same issue. Is done 37k on a 52 reg and they are the origanal tyre from new and they still have about3/4mm tread left. please help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/MexWave.gif

Have had same problem on mine but its the front left tyre have alinement checked and reset but havent changed tyre yet the bushes going isnt the kind of news i need to here right now so my fingers are crossed.

There's a thread running about this on www.tt-forum.co.uk

There's a vote that the last time I looked was 1/3 had a problem and 2/3s didn't.

That's crap from Audi, my mate bought a used Mini Cooper S from the local stealers last month, and found premature tyrewear after 1K miles, BMW replaced both front tyres and did the tracking no questions asked!

Follow me,

Its not just your car.
I went to get my front tyres replaced last week and asked them to check the rear because I have had a slight rumbling / vibration from the rear when accelerating up from 75 through 80mph.

They found uneven wear on the inside of both rear tyres just as you described and explained that it was due to skipping or bouncing of the rear suspension. (His mates A3 had the same problem)
They told me that either the tracking/alignment can be adjusted on the rear wheels of the A3. (Cant remember which)

I have yet to make time to go to the Audi dealer to get them to sort it.

There are other posts on here about rear suspension knocking but I haven't seen any of them mention uneven tyre wear.

Hi mate sorry to hear you have the same problem, when i spoke to Audi customer care they checked out all my bushes and arms at the back end but nothing found. I had to buy a new set of tyres heavy cost. Which type of tyre did you have on the back, because they blammed the michelin tyre my back 1z had done about 37k but still 3/4mm of tread left. What audi carrage did you take it to. could you PM me and let me know how your getting on cheers sorry for late replay been away.

Hay SpibsA3 did you sort out your tyre problem with Audi pm me if you did. cheers

Recently upgraded my A4 1.8 T Sport to 18" replicas because the 2 rear tyres had done exactly the same. When speaking to the local specialist on alloy wheels about this he reckons it's the camber on the back wheels that causes it especially if you are not carrying loads.

it cant be the camber. If it was that then the tyres would scrub off mainly on the inside these tyres had scrubbed of square but a wavey patern across the tread.

NE tyres on clifton moor have a computerized 4 wheel alignment thing. Pop in and get the FULL alignment checked.
