Thread: Key fob doesn't work - options on re-coding??

Just got a Mk5 Golf for my wife, and the remote key fob doesn't work (we have changed the batteries!). The car locks/unlocks and starts ok using the key, and I've been told the fob needs re-coding/re-matching to the car (and this is the only key that came with the car).

What are the options/costs - is it something only a dealer can do??

Try manually locking the doors. Unlock, open door, switch ignition on, switch off,remove key and hold unlock button
