As above really, replacing both outer CV joints on my A3, how do you get the joint off of the shaft? Is it just a case or whacking it with a mallet?!

yup, hold the joint straight and give the back a good whack..
Cheers guys much appreciated!
Was worried there might have been a cheeky circlip hiding somewhere before I started bashing it with a hammer!
On a side note, I have about 1mm of play side to side in my inner CV joints when I twist the shaft, is this normal or do you think thats excessively worn?
there is a snap ring hidden inside the CV, but you need to overcome that to push it off, either the hammer trick or wind the bolt will be fine.
I wouldn't worry too much about the play, if it wasn't making noises before once you have cleaned and regreased it will only be better
But am I right in thinking there shouldnt be any play at all? Or is some side to side motion normal?
If im spending the time doing it I might as well get it all 100%!
