Has anyone done a "How to" on fitting a replacement Brake Vacuum Pump on a A4 TDI?

I've read the Haynes manual on how to do this and it looks pretty simple, but was wondering if anyone has had to do it.

The only I can't do is the clearing of the fault codes that appear when the connector at the back of the engine is unplugged .

If I don't get them cleared would it cause any problems?
