I have recently purchased a 1992 Audi 100E Avant which has covered 89K miles and is automatic. The car seemed to be in very good condition, though I have noticed some irregularity in the changes from the box. It seems a bit slow to take-up the selected gear and also on kick-down it takes a while for the gear to be selected and sometimes it slips and revs really high and then settles. Is this a usual problem with age - do you think it is easily solved (belts changing etc.) or does it sound more terminal? There are no noises from the gearbox and it seems pretty healthy?

I appreciate any help you can give.
