TDI gearbox swap

Hello

I have a 1998 A4 with the 1.9TDI engine.

Engine code - AFN; gearbox code - EEN


Does anybody know if it's possible to swap the gearbox for a later 6 speed?

Well sort answer is yes, but the long answer is at what cost?

You will need the box, the gear linkage, the mounts, and one mount needs to be modded to fit the subframe or the subframe modded to fit the box.

Drivehafts ( unless it already has 130mm tripod joints) and if fitting shafts, new uprights will be neccesary to allow the shafts to connect to the new hub you need. Unless you cad find an 016 box and steel the flanges from it, them you may be able to use your own shafts.

Cost, hmmmm anything up to £1000 to do it all, depends on source of box etc etc.

I have already done a similar swap so sadly know all too well how this kind of project can run away with you.
