Hi Guys,

I have an 1999 Audi A3 Sport and my central locking isn't working anymore :(
having checked the obvious culprit the fuse which is ok i've noticed that when i press the lock button on the keyfob i hear a kind of buzzing noise from somewhere near the passenger wheel for about 10secs approximatley is there something that needs replaced there and if so how do i get access to it, the only thing i see in the boot wheel arch is a subwoofer.

Any help would be grateful in trying to resolve this.

The central locking pump is located in a grey foam shell, behind the side trim in the boot floor, over the wheel arch (approx under the fuel flap)

If you can hear it working for longer than a few seconds, you most likely have a vacuum/pressure leak in one of the tubes, generally at one of the front doors, at the pump, or at the junction behind the front seats.

If the leak is not fixed, the pump will work overtime trying to attain the vacuum/pressure, and eventually cause the graphite pump impeller to shatter.
