Twice recently i've been sitting at home late at night and i've heard my alarm go off. Turned it off and gone outside to check and no one there and nothing different. What's going on?

I've heard it can be a tactic of car thieves to set ur alarm off repeatedly untill u get fed up and just turn it off when it goes off. But i've tried setting my alarm off before and it's hard to do.

sounds more like a ******** sensor. VAG-COM it and see what set the alarm off in each case. If it's the same each time, replace that lock.

This was happening to my mums car a year or so ago.

A tip from someone was to spray hairspray over the sensors, this makes them less sensative.

Never tried it, don't know if it works but i guess it's worth a try:confused:

i had this prob on my 2000 a4 tdi, i read later that the comfort control module is under pass seat and can get full of water. this also causes random operation of the interior lights - which i also had. mine went right as the weather got better but it only played up in the rain.
