Engine whistle

hi i have a A6 1.8CVT 2001 (51) 76,000miles that has a whistle like wind blowing over a bottle at 1000rpm cold and 1500rpm hot and its there all the time and im stuck 4 ideas? as i say it sounds like wind over a bottle crossed with an owl! any ideas?

Is this not just normal turbo whistle?

Does it happen when stationary or when moving?

Meatychi, the turbo won't whistle at idle on any car.

Im getting something like this at the mo when cold, sounds like someone is hoovering the engine bay for about 30 seconds when I start the engine then nothing

its all the time hot and cold and when moving or on rev hold over 1500rpm its not turbo whistle it sounds like a drunk owl under the dash

maybe its your air con then! Is it coming from behind your centre console and under the dash?

Mine makes a funny whirring sound.

it sounds like under the dash but if i turn everything off its still there!
