Hi all, can someone please tell me how to change the rear pads on my 2001 S3.
There appears to be two slots on the caliper piston, what for, I don't know. Also is there any special tools I need for the job.

All help appreciated.

Nick

you will require a rewind tool to wind back the pistons before fitting the new pads the tool fits into the slots

G clamp over caliper then with mole grips grip top edge of piston take care not to damage rubber turn grips clockwise in restricted space take up pressure with G clamp repeat till piston fully back
ps reckon there due changing again

i strongly recommmend you get genuine audi pads as cheap alternatives rattle inside your calipers

I'd strongly recommend you avoid them like the plague. They're crap! Pagid rear pads have been about the best I've used so far. Keep away from EBC pads too, especially the green stuff pads (the pad material can fall off the backing plate).

Buy the rewind tool their only about £20 from halfords that way you know you haven't knackered the calipers resetting the piston.
