A4 Key Question

I have a 1998 A4 1.8T Sport, I have an original Audi key with the car which contains just a small light to illuminate the key lock.

My question is, should my car have a remote key which unlocks the doors etc? or would the key I have be how it was supplied?

that depends on how your car was ordered.the folding key with remote is an option that is decided when you order the car from audi ag
 
All A4's from late 97 onwards are factory wired for remote central locking.

They just give you a non-RF key set if remote locking was an option and you didnt take it.

You can buy a flick key and make it work for your car (will need a code changing with VAG-COM etc)

The Audi remote range is not very good, so an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry addon would be better.
