Hi guys, recently bought a 1990 audi 90 quattro 20v (2.3 with 111k), has performed faultlessly on the 450 mile trip home but however it is loosing oil (rather than burning it), appears to be blowing out of the dipstick guide, the dipstick is a loose fit (should it have an O ring?) and the oil has been overfilled slightly (about 5mm over max), now im not sure if its doing it because its been overfilled or whether thats just coincidence, suggestions welcome /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I will be draining the oil off and giving it some fresh oil and a new filter but would rather get it to stop loosing it first, while im here what oil is recommended, use the synta silver in my vw's, would this be fine here as well?

Sounds like you crank case breather is blocked and causing the pressure to blow out of the dip-stick..Should be a tight fit with rubber seal

After you change oil then test and then go through process of elimanation as extra oil could be at fault

Fully Synt/ is the best option..........
