Advice on a broken plastic arm on a manifold Actuator 2001 A6 V8

Hope there is the knowledge for this out there!!!!! One of the plastic arms has broken on one of two of my manifold actuators. I have the yellow dash light etc. I have ordered the replacement parts from America but could take two weeks. My question is if I tie the broken actuator so that it is fully inflated until the replacements arrive. what effect will that have? or do I leave it alone to be sucked closed every time the car is started. Which way closed or always open would be the best way to leave it?????
