Hey, guys. I have a problem with a "list" on the drivers door on my A3 2006-model. It has, by the former owner been replaced, but didn't get repainted. Somehow over the years it has also become bent on the edge, probably because of ice. I have no experience with bodywork and therefore I don't have any clue on how to straight out the edge which has become bent. Does some of you have an idea on how this can be done?

I have no experience with painting, however I have viewed several videos and "tutorials" on how the process is done. However, should I go to my local mechanic to remove the list and paint it, and get them to attach it again? Or could I just simply mask of areas and paint it?

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks! :hi:

Nice winter tyres!
You could try a heat gun on the trim, dont go too mad /close though . Do you intend to remove trim to paint it/straighten it?

Howdy, Guderian! Haha, I know..

I haven't really descided on what to do (lack of knowledge and experience) . I guess though, that the best result and most "safest" way is probably to take the trim off and straighten it out and paint it? Is this a hard "DIY" job? How does one remove the trim, and what kind of tools does one need for this job? How does one attach the trim on again?

Do you think these methods works?

2nd one looks best, might use tar/adhesive remover to get tape off,or to soften at least. 3M double sided tape is your best bet to refix it.
If you use a heat gun be very careful ,dont go too close or you will burn and melt trim ,paint.

Okay, this has been bothering me the last months. I have been so eager to get it redone and fixed. Many, many thanks for the help!
