location of s3 rear boot switch

Hi all,

where can I find the switch that tells the S3 that its boot is shut, my interior lights are working every so often in the boot and its driving me mad.

It's probably the same as a Mk4 Golf in which case there's a switch that's part of the lock mechanism on the tailgate. They get gummed up but can be cleaned. If that doesn't work then the switch can be bought separately - about £7 from VW.

I had to do this with our Bora and it was an easy job. Not sure how to remove the trim on an S3 but I'm sure someone's had to do it.

Yep sure is, there's a little micro switch on the inside of the lock. Pull it apart and give it a good blast of carb cleaner!! Normally works
