Can anyone recommend an indie in the Billericay/Brentwood/Chelmsford area. Anyone used Mercury Cars in Hutton?

Sorry James, just read my post back and it wasn't very clear!
Yes I'm looking for a place to service my A8 but don't would rather
have a specialist do it than the main stealers.

well from word of mouth i heard about two former audi/vw technicains that worked for audi/vw from 18 yeras old and they are both now 35+ and have started there own company called VW/AUDItech. its based in chelmsford essex by the wickford industrial estate. took my a3 and it hasent been anywhere else. they will use genuine parts or patttern depending on your choice, i had full service (long life) cambelt water pump, thermostat and handbrake cables replaced all genuine parts £500 and they come with 2yr warrenty if genuine parts used.
cant rate them enough, they are also so friendly and have cortesy cars available if needed.

Take a trip up there and decide for yourself. they also diagnosed my cars probelms down to a T on the 1st visit, which other garges stated they coudlnt confrim the diagonsis.

Cheers James, nothing better than a personal recommendation, I've only had the car a week but want to get the oil and filter changed, handbrake adjusted and a general look over.

I strongly recommend Power Developments. They're incredibly knowledge and superb at the job. I've been taking all my motors there for over ten years and the service is always swift, efficient and much cheaper than VWAuditec.

They will always try to save me money in every area. They have never not been able to diagnose a problem and are friendly, honest and extremely hard working. Give them a shout the next time you need assistance. They're based in Basildon just off the A127, so it's a really convenient location. can't recommend them enough.
