Thread: Funny smells

I have been having a problem with funny smells; and not those caused by an over abundance of sprouts this Christmas. When I use the front washers there is a distinct smell of sulphur/eggs in the car. I have checked the battry which appears ok but have noticed that the water from the bonnet runs over the battery when opened. Also the car heating is not working properly as there is only heat on the far passenger side.

This sounds like an air conditioning problem. I could be wrong though.

I was going to say heater matrix, but seeing your getting heat from one side???

The good lady is all warm and cosy but I have cold air blown over my lower regions. I'm thinking of going to Audi but £180 just to be told what they think might be wrong is giving me mild cause for concern. I live in Leicester and would be more than happy to visit a good reliable garage that can sort the problems out.
I also have that 'alternator pulley,' noise....

at a guess, i am thinking air con belt loose or slipping thus not getting upto full compression!

Thank you everybody, I really appreciate your help and support. It makes going to the repair shop a lot easier when one is forewarned and forearmed.

Did you figure out what your funny smell was?

I get it when I use a halfords screen wash any other and its fine!
