Hi everyone

I would appreciate some help with this very annoying issue.

2006 Audi A3 2.0 tdi Quattro s line

Between 70 and 80 mph i get a very deep vibration noise through the car. It goes away after 80 and does not come in at low speeds. No vibration through steering wheel. Its just a very deep bassy resonating noise which you can feel.

I have been to vag audi specialists they cannot find the fault. Awsome GTI manchester have checked the car.

Done all the usual balanced wheels etc. I even bought a brand new set of alloys with new tyres and re-bal still no joy.

Has any one else come across this issue, or could point me in the right direction im trying to avoid main dealer.

Look at the rear propshaft joint where it bolts to the rear diff, I bet its seized solid. Your prob looking at a new joint or you may have to buy a complete prop with the joint on. Hope that helps.

HI there

I have just come across from BMW, I picked up my A3 170 quattro yesterday from Audi Dealership. I noticed exact same noise at 70 a deep noise could be heard but not vibration. I think ive narrowed it down to the exhaust as in the morning when idling you can hear the exhaust popping if the idle isnt perfectly smooth. If the engine is reved to 2k, the exhaust note also sounds deeper than i would expect from a diesel..... almost petrol engine like.

Being new I take it this is right and all audi have this exhaust note?
