Steering noise maybe

Thought I would try and ask another question as no one seems to know the answer to my other thread and lights

Anyway, this one seems to maybe have something to do with the steering.

The car is an A4 (b5) 2.6se auto. The noise sounds like a dull humm and is audiable from 35mph to about 50mph. Only noticeable when going in a straight line and slightly louder when steering to the right. When steering to the left, the noise seems to stop


Any ideas to what this could possibly be please?

maybe a wheel bearing

wheel bearing, when steering the weight moves from side to side so when more weight goes onto a duff bearingit grumbles louder
