I need to replace the ignition switch on my 96 A4 2.8. Is this switch programmed to the key or ECU? In my Infiniti, the key has a chip that must be programmed or the ECU is disabled, and that can only be done by the dealer. Needless to say, they will not work on a used part so I would need to buy it from them.
I can get a switch for my Audi on car-parts.com for less than $100. The dealer part is $400+. Will I be able to just install the used switch or will it need dealer programming?
Thanks for your help!
Re: Ignition Switch
Hi when changing ignition switch no need to reprogram keys as the reader coil is on the ignition barrel but you can also change the barrel with out reprograming keys as it only reads the transponder code K
