Hi, Can anyone help. I have an S2 Avant (94'L' ABY Engine) which since it has started getting cold keeps cutting out until the engine warms up then its fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks 28v6. Yeah thats what audi said it might be. I had it checked and it was ok.

All those are the best ideas, but as a side note... I find my car starts better if I depress the accelerator all the way to the floor before starting the car. (I don't know if this will work with a DBW engine) Here's what I do: Turn the key to the "On" postion (don't start the engine though). Depress the accelerator all the way to the floor and release. Turn the key to the "Start" position and start the car as normal. I find that the engine catches better when it's cold out if I do this first.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT GUYS I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW I GET ON.

Could also be the water pump starting to seize up, loading the engine at idle into stalling. I had this on my A4, where it would keep cutting out when cold, so had specialist check everything, they found a faulty temp sensor and replaced it, but it was still doing it. Luckily the water pump was leaking slightly so got it replaced and problem solved. They showed me the old pump and you couldn't turn it at all by hand it was so badly corroded up. Without the leak it could have cost me an engine rebuild. Thanks to Audi dealer for not replacing the pump when they did the timing belt, t*ssers.
