    2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.

    3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

I am a total geek in disguise.

I have a degree in Software Development, and work by day as a Network Support Engineer with my Cisco qualifications.

In the evenings, I am partial to taking engine, and other parts of cars apart..... And hunting for chicks (when not with the missus....)

I remember my first day of Uni... sat down in the lecture hall and the guy to my right had "Y3S, 1M A G33K" plastered on his t-shirt and the guy to my left had quite elf-like ears.

Needless to say 90% of the people in the lecture hall all had long hair.

My point with the dictionary quotes earlier was that with slang words everything is open to interpretation. One persons meaning of a slang word and be totally different to anothers.

I get asked for information more than anyone else at work, but usually it's "what area code is +45?" etc.

My brain is sponge for normally useless facts! So yes.

    edit; Denmark if anyone's interested . . . lol

I think most (if not all) understand the general meaning of "geek".
I didn't really intend for it all to get scientific and... ahem.... geeky!

    I'm a bit like that.
Example: Did you know there is a test to see if you stick have hiccups??
The next time you've got hiccups and one hasn't come out for a fews minutes but you're not sure if it's safe to get on with your life, hiccup free. Well... give a loud cough. If you hiccup straight after the cough you still have them. If you don't then they've gone.
Trust me, it works. You heard it here first.

PS: What area code is 876???

Well I done a computer networking degree, cisco qualified... Need I say anymore?! Even though I now work in the investment management sector, I still like to do my I.T courses...yep that makes me a geek I hear u say!

Also the fact I love to take everything apart and put back together, or break on many occasions. My gf thinks I'm a geek for tampering with my car and being anal about keeping it clean, also how often I'm searching around this site! She constantly calls me a geek! Haha " your not on that stupid site again are you?" lol
