Bought a new watch :)

I think I'll leave all the haters to their pathetic little crusade.

I don't see how you can compare a watch to a car in any way what-so-ever. Especially since there are watches out there that never need a service, it seems it's just the expensive ones.

A car looses 40% of it's value within 3 years -A nice watch will keep 75% for life, and certain models will make money!

Yep, agreed! It's ludicrous to compare a watch to a car. I could buy a Casio watch for £30 that'll last maybe 3 years on the battery it's supplied with. Then lets say I just buy a brand new one every 3 years until I retire, instead of replacing the battery, and I would still have spent maybe the same amount you'll have spent on your "service"!

Precision instrument? It's probably less accurate than the clock on the bottom right of the screen I'm looking at :nyah:

Erm... No - My Omega is never out when i check it against 123 for +1 hr -1hr etc.

I know you're happy about the new purchase, but I'm happy about a lot of the things I've bought in the past and haven't felt the need to tell everyone about it. I wasn't saying that you intended to boast about it, but invariably that's how threads like this are read.

Don't read it then! Simples...

This is the one I have a daily wearer. Will probably make you Casio guys sick, but cost me £45 just for a new battery

I don't have a problem with what he's bought, or that he's happy about it, or even with him posting about it. I was just pointing out how it will come across to a lot of people, and he's done himself no favours by posting comments like "I have a nice watch, you dont." That just helps to make it all seem a bit vulgar to me. I'm glad he's obviously got plenty of spare cash to treat himself, but there's simply no need to rub people's faces in it.

Can't put it on your wrist, or neck....

I never said you could, I said that it was probably more accurate than A4Quattro's watch, which it probably is. AND it's more precise than yours is. Imagine if you could put that super good timing capability into a watch!! Oh wait...you can...for a tenner.

Just a joke...

The British way....knock someone down, anyone thought why the media always do it ?
sells papers cos so many love to see it here.

I disagree with that but either way this debate has nothing to do with saying well done. I'm happy for anyone who has worked hard and made a good living. In fact I'm happy for anyone who has won the lottery too. I just don't like seeing people spend so much money on a watch. It's their money and they can do what they want with it but I'm entitled to my opinion.

I never lowered myself to a "mine is better than yours" campaign until people started calling my decision "stupid" and generally slagging me. Posting videos implying that I'm some sort of rich "holier than thou" tosser.
Those people who know me, know that was not my intention. Text can be interpreted however you like and it speaks volumes how some people interpret an innocuous statement.

If I had an R8 and I put up pictures would you call me a flash ******* or a ***** because I'd just lost 15k in depreciation?

Come one people, grow up. (you know who you are)

british people prefer to slag someone off than say well done and see someone doing good....understand that ?

Agreed mate - I hate the British Media - Institutionally Racist CNUTS....

Hate the dirty red top gutter press! And the Daily Mail also :Flush:

What does it matter what another person spends on a watch - I could say your mad for buying an S3 when you could have a 1.6...

My 99 euro Skagen tells me the time and the date, which is the same as what your Omega does.

It's really interesting to see how you guys react about this subject.

A £1000 Ford Escort RS can do what your S3 does....
If you scratched your watch along a wall it'd scratch the face - I'm an engineer and have my watch on every day, I’ve banged against many things that would smash/scratch a cheap watch, yet mine is like new still.

At the end though it's about taste - I like nice things - You may like something i find tacky and crass (Not saying you do..!) but it's only an opinion at the end of the day.

As I'm the only one to have posted a video, I'll assume you're referring to me. I simply posted a video that threads like this remind me of. If you've taken that to imply that you're "some sort of rich 'holier than thou' tosser" that says more about your own opinion than mine.

Honestly, I think it's a great watch and I'm genuinely pleased for you, I'm just old-fashioned and prefer to keep my purchases to myself. You seem far too defensive about all this Chris, you can't seriously expect everyone to agree that (even mildly) expensive watches are worth the cash, so don't get so wound up when they don't understand your point of view.

Hold on a minute - You've owned a Rover 220 - That makes you opinion null and void....:lmfao: Your definitely old (man) skool! lol

Again a joke - As people seem to be getting to touchy on here - Think the decorators may be in!

Back in 1996, I was quite proud of it. Having come to my senses since leaving my teenage years, I realise that was definitely a low point in my driving career. :)
