My first car;

My first car was a Nova 1.4SR and yes I got the exhaust done /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.
I had it for 5 years until I followed that with a VR6 Golf, which lasted only four weeks before I put it backwards into a hedge off the M1 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Started with bikes. Loads of them but 1st car was a 1963 Ford Thames Van with bucket seats and a small Mountney steering wheel... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

After that, far too many to list here.

Was a 1971 Hillman Avenger 1500 GLS,4 headlights in a pretty similar on/off arrangement to the S4's - outers on for dip and all 4 for main. Light output wasn't a patch on the Xenons though (how DO you go back after Xenons?).
I remember it threw a pushrod from under the rocker at 70mph and fixed it by backing off the locknut and putting it back under then regapping the clearance - not something you'd get away with on a modern car!!
It worked OK for another year before I traded up to a Cortina Mk3 2000GT... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Learnt to drive in my mum's Nova 1.2 then bought my first car, a Corsa 1.5TD.

I won't have a bad word said against it (apart from the handling), it was very nippy, frugal and nothing went wrong in 5 years of ownership, unlike my S3.................

Passed it on to my mum for a nominal fee and it's still going strong.

Moved on to the S3 after that and am waiting for the next RS4.

The joy that was a beige Austin Metro 1.0 with a huge hole in the floor

Ah...

That'll be a Mini City 1.0ltr then.

1980 (W plate) in what can only be described as dog-poo-brown.

Bought for £300, lasted me a year before I bought my first proper car (a Cavalier Gsi2000) then lasted my brother 2 more years before it rusted away. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

****** reliable though, only ever changed the starter motor on it......and that was because I burnt it out one evening trying to make a quick getaway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif (but that's another story!)

If anyone wants to see it in all it's glory, it's here

Top speed was 87mph (seemed strangely faster at the time though) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A brown, Rover 2000 TC with 97000 miles on the clock and V8 badges on (sad). Power to weight ratio of a Chieftan tank with a lawnmover engine on!

Spent all my spare time fixing it, new big end bearings, diff, gearbox. Hated it and in the end and celebrated as they took it to the scrapheap. Since then its all been downhill!

I had a red Fiat Panda 1000 FIRE. Great car, dead easy to work on, even I could change the clutch cable on it and I've got the mechanical skill of a boiled potato. Good job I could change the clutch cable because it used to snap every few hundred miles, those were the days /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

An Alfa 33 1.7 Quadrofoglio verde in alfa rosso (i.e. red). ****** fast car for a beginner (iirc about 150 HP) IF I could get it started. The boxer engine was great in sound and power, the rest of the car was a bit less great...

It pulled to the right when braking, and the front came up about 15 cm under acceleration. It leaked, I replaced about half the engine in one year, it had more rust than you can imagine and you had to start it at least once every day because it drained the battery. But I have good memories of it...

Citreon AX GT with a Piper X airfilter, it was great until dirt got into my fuel lines and I sold it to another gullable 17 year old hehehe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

First car in 1994/95, Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6GL, C or D reg, and it was a dark brown colour, which was appropriate because it was sh##.

laerned to drive in Mum's MG Metro - which I though was cool at the time

first car was a Mk2 Golf 1.6 Driver - quite pleased with it actually, nice metallic green with those nice circular saw alloys

bludy thing leaked water into the footwells all the time though

next car - company A4 1.8

then A3TS and now S3

not many really for 14 years of driving

A Renault 5 Gordini (not the turbo one). It could lose all the 1600 x-flow mk2 Escorts - especially round corners, but had tinworms on acid /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif . They eventually ate the sills and some of the little ******** must have got to the big ends so it went to the scrapyard in the sky.
