    Rude Mechanic\'s could be ******!

SHUT THE **** UP! Wednesday 26th February

Garages warned that bad language could cause legal hassles

Swearing in the workplace gone unchecked could lead to preventative legal action, warns the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) today.

The use of extreme language at work could offend some staff, and can be grounds for constructive dismissal of those who swear. To avoid time consuming and costly disciplinary action, and the possible loss of staff, employers should tell their employees to shut the up.

Dionne Cunningham, head of the RMIs legal department explains: Swearing can upset employees in a number of ways. Some may simply be offended by the language itself, while others could interpret it as a form of sexual harassment. This can offend male as well as female workers.

She continued: The law protects employees from offence and discrimination in the workplace, and swearing is considered to be offensive in a number of contexts. By discouraging swearing in the first place, many problems could be avoided.

Workshops are very funny places to be provided you don't mind a bit of coarse langugage...

Someone I know was interviewing for mechanics at his smallish independant garage.. interviewing this guy and its going pretty well..

"Theres just one more thing, it being a workshop and all, the humour is, well, you need to be a bit broad minded.. what is your sense of humour like?"

"I was in the army for 15 years, its twisted"

    "Fine, can you start Monday?"

Re: Rude Mechanic\'s could be ******!

Back in the Stone Age when the Ford Works team's rally car was the Group 4 Escort, the mechanics at Boreham used to upset the born-again Christian works driver Ari Vatenen by writing obscenities in the dirt on his car. They also used to tape pictures of nude men on the inside of the sunvisor of Louise Aitken's navigator, Ellen.

Boreham also serviced the traffic cars for Essex Police and they were trialling a new digital rear sign on the boot lid which could show a number of pre-set messages. One of the mechanics there (obviously had fallen foul of said police) altered the "Stop Police" message to read "Hello Sailor". It took a few days for the police to realise why the people they stopped were laughing at them!
