Hi,I was sitting in an Audi Dealers Service area yesterday waiting for my car inspection to be done and overheard the receptionist speaking on the phone to the owner of an Audi and the conversation went something like this "Audi are doing a special offer on a Cambelt change for cars over 3 years old it is now half price, for your car this will be £360.00 should the tensioners and followers need changing you will be informed on the day and this work will be charged as an extra" Interesting, I will try to find out via a telephone call tomorrow the cost of a full cambelt change, i.e. cambelt tensioners followers and water pump tomorrow for my over three years old A6 and will post here.

That's expensive!! Most of the VAG specialists will do the belts, tensioners & water pump for ~£300!!

Cheers,

I had mine done for ~£250 at a local specialists, so sorry but its still too expensive.

I remember having both my cambelt and water pump replaced at the same time at Tyneside Audi (formerly called Newcastle Audi) for around £345.

Alijames, got it in one :)

:salute:

I would have gone there, but the extra fuel/time cost made APS Brackley a more cost effective option for me... Would recommend them anyday. Just ask to speak to Ed.

Cheers,

Cheers dude, highly recommend them, know lots of people that go to them and get their cars sorted by them boys, alot of the people I know deal with Jody, but will keep it in mind... :)

Decent prices there. Im hoping to get mine down by the local vag specialist, sound guy, did my revo too but just needing to get a price!

Im going to buy all the bits though, belt, tensioner and water pump etc to make sure its all what I want.

Blimey!! I must live in one of the expensive areas! £1000 quote from my audi dealer, £600(iirc) from the specialist. With water pump.

Les, it would be worth you driving down to Midland VW, would probably cost £40-50 in petrol for a ~£300 saving!!!

Midland VW have done a lot of repair work on my car recently - top guys and Jody knows his stuff. Wouldn't trust or go anywhere else now.

Follow up
If the Tensioners, followers and water pump need changing there is a further charge of up to £250.00 There you go the full story, so a full cost of £610.00. Hmmm that should bring some comments??

As i said before 'too expensive'.

Dont know why dealers insist on this pricing, can they not see how much business they are losing by this???

Oh well, specialists are exactly that and will most probably do a better job anyway!!

Unfortunately, there will are car owners out there who know nothing about cars and 'presume' the dealer is the best place to go, and Full Dealer History means the car will be good.
