By bigger I mean spacious and luggage holding...

need a rent a car for 3 adults and 2 kiddies... whats best.

Focus Estate or VW Touran??

Anyone had one of these? Recommend a good company to rent from? Sixt is top at the mo

My Dad has a Focus estate and in the cabin area, it's no bigger than the hatchback. The boots a reasonable size and well shaped with good access.

Have no experiance of the Touran.

Cheers.

I was thinking the touran really... will only have the bags in the car to/from the airport... but at other times theres gonna be 2 kids seats in it

but Karl was talking about the cabin being the same as the focus hatch... not the overall size Lotts.

Doesnt matter which is bigger go for the Touran...lol :respekt:

:friends: No problem Binlid.

The focus should have a better shape of boot being a proper estate car, whereas the Touran might have a taller narrower bootspace, if you know what I mean. I don't know for certain but i would imagine the Focus would be easier for carrying stuff. If you have two childseats it's not a big stretch of the imagination to think there could be two buggys as well as what ever other luggage there might be.

I'd plump for the VW, being a more prestige brand and all that

A more prestige brand won't necessarily fit all Kontrabands needs in it.

He asked which would be better for carrying 3 adults, 2 kids in seats and all their assorted luggage.

Not which car is nicer to drive.

Cheers.

What about a Mondeo estate. Should be a bit bigger in the cabin. Suppose it depends on the size of the adults too.

then neither are any good. unless they are all small adults and big children, if you put 2 small kids in the back of any car in child seats then an adult is never going to fit in there.
And as for luggage, I have a 5 series BM and when we go on holiday (me and my girlfriend) we have to put a suitcase on the back seat.

If you think you're gonna get all that in a touran or a focus, unless each person only has a sports bag and a growth impediment, you're in for a world of disappointment.

The focus has the bigger boot, the touran more interior space, we run both C max's and Focus estates and whilst the boot is higher on the C max there is more useabke space in the estate. If your looking at going to the airport try national, they run the scenic and the zafira, if you want one locally try enterprise or vw themselves, europcar do something called boomerang and avis do something similar, basically you can do a one way rental really cheap for a there and back trip without getting charged a one way trip. Avis are good and if you sign up in advance you can be away from the airport in less than 3 mins, although enterprise have better specced models and are very cheap.

 My point exactly.

same here, i've had more trouble with VW and Audi than any of my FOrds, and at least with my fords the door handles didn't keep falling off !

Because I felt like a tit climbing over my rollcage in my Ford Escort while wearing a suit.

Because my RS is gaining in value every day and I don't want to ruin it by using it daily. By not using it everyday I appreciate how special it is when I do drive it.

Because the only thing Ford had to offer in my price range that met my requirements was a V6 Mondeo and after borrowing my brothers and putting a tenner in every day it's just too damn thirsty. And I didn't like the way the car handled.

I like VAG cars as well as my Fords so I have one of each. VAG for daily duties and my old Ford Escort for Sunday best. :nyah:

I didn't like the look of the new focus and the Mondeo was too big. However if they did the 2.2 TDCi with fords dsg box looking like the ST i might defect back, I would have had the ST but at 18mpg on the 3 day demo I would have cried coming from a diesel.. sounded good though :)

I like it when I see people with rollcages in cars, it almost suggests that they don't think enough of their own driving ability....:jester:

I fitted it for three main reasons.

1. It stiffens the chassis which helps the handling.
2. I use the car on track.
3. I use the car for magazine shootouts and it's regulary been run up Bruntingthorpe at speeds in excess of a proven 150mph

well, a roll cage would probably cause us loads of problems. ;)

Anyway, ordered the Touran. Luckily the missis is a skinny lass so she'll fit in the back for the 20min trip... My hand was kinda forced in the end tho with difficulties ordering the cars and then some price changes in effect and emails coming back after flippin ordering the thing to tell me that they didnt have the car!!

Anyway, veedub it is.

CHEERS GUYS & GAL.

Roll on the world of disappointment!
;)

Well done, now that you got that sorted, we want a full write up on the Touran when you have finished with it....lol.

sounds like he'll only be driving for 20 mins, not much of a road test though!

Chris,

FWIW... only the hotel is about 20 mins from the airport. Thats the time when the car will be full... If I was only going to be having 20 mins Id have got a taxi... :) The other driving around Spain visiting friends/rellys would give us a better 'road test' but its pretty safe to say as Im on holiday I cant see an actual road test being done! ;)

I'll let you know Nilz mate, how it was in ... I dunno... a couple of sentences.. is that ok! :footy:

Guess that will have to do ;)

have a good hol
