Any idea's why my car wont start ??

I have just bought a 98 seat ibiza gti (2.0/dohc 16v), but for some reason it wont start. Ive checked that ive got a spark,fuel is getting through,starter motor/battery is fine. Are the engines on these the same as golfs ??

Thanks for the link to the website i will check that out in more depth later,it turned out to be the coil as the housing was split and arching off trhe body but we only noticed this when it got dark !!! Still not sure if i like the car or not yet ??
