When I recently bought My Audi 3.0 sport convertible I was informed that the Symphony Stereo was the top of the range Is this so ?? OK I have no issues with its sound except it lacks a little volume ? But on the whole its fine ! Are there any upgrades availlable for the system Speakers or otherwise ??? Thanks

Hi Chuck, try asking some of the guys in the Technical forum under ICE, you may get a better response there.

TDI/

All the Audi HU's are identical from a quality point of view i.e. cheap low end 2 x 20w Matsushita/Panasonic units. The Symphony is just the version with an inbuilt CD changer, no improvement in quality. The Bose upgrade is the top of the range, which uses exactly the same range of HU's, but a seperate amp and Bose speakers.

Thanks for that Mate ! is it easy to upgrade to the Bose kit ?

Not easy and not worth it. Far better going aftermarket with or without the stock HU.

Well I kinda like the stock Hu cos it integrates with the rest of the interior So will have to head in the direction of an ICE specialist !

Get yourself an RNS-e satnav unit to slot in there instead, they're regarded as giving a better sound quality, plus you'd have the added benefit of a built in satnav system which scummy thieves wont steal in the middle of the night!! Quite a few come up on ebay ranging from £400, they are a direct replacement for the symphony unit needing no modifications to the car. Just take out the symphony & slot in the RNS-e.
