Woop, just thought I'd share this simple spreadsheet I worked out this morning, so I can show my friends that when I ask for a tenners petrol money for carting them around I'm not kidding :D

http://webface.genericlan.net/~ricsto/richpersonal/petrolcostcalc.xls

When you start a journey, reset your mile counter and average MPG computers and when you get back, what it in to the spreadsheet with the price you pay per litre and it will tell you the exact cost it took to make that journey :)

Any suggestions/improvements welcome

Mate, you need to get out more. :)

I get out too much, and now I'm skint - that's the problem :p

Mate that's really neat. Could you add an optional cost-per-mile field as well? These are the ones you can get from the http://www.whatcar.com website for every car. It includes things like wear and tear, servicing and depreciation.

Great effort anyway!

Yeah sure, updated it to show the cost per mile as well :)

I know how much mine costs and I don't have DIS, I drive 400 miles and then Ihave to put in roughly 40 quid so its 10ppm. Simple.

OK now this is even more usefull - I've made a HTML version that you can run on your mobile phone!

Add the following URL to your phone browser bookmark:
http://webface.genericlan.net/~ricsto/fuelcost.html

Then you can easily calculate how much a journey will cost if you're like me and end up taxiing your friends around half the time!

What it means is you can go on a trip, reset your mpg computer and mileage counter and know exactly how much the drive cost you to make :D - The download to your phone is less than 1kb so you dont have to worry about data charges, you also only download it once and you can make as many calculations as you like as the results are calculated as part of the HTML code by your phone :)

A lot of phones have the option to save a page offline as well :D

p.s. the link dosnt work well in FFox, mobile phone browsers work fine and IE will work if you allow the prompt about running scripts :D

I Know how much it cost me when I fill it up
I reset the trip every tank I can do anything for 160 - 303 miles per tank
so thats 11.1 MPG or 21.04 MPG
