Hoping someone can help me.
My dad has finally given up with computing and decided at age 76, having never really got his head round computers, he is never going to do so. He has given me his computer to dispose of. Rather than chuck it away, I thought I would recycle it and give it to charity etc.
Before doing this I wanted to make sure that the drive was wiped, so I reformatted the C:\ drive. Went to reinstall Windows 2000 from a set of original Win2000 discs I have from another computer (all discs for this computer are lost) and found that although I can get into the BIOS, I can't alter the disc boot sequence - there is no option on the BIOS. Hence it will only boot from the hard disk - which has nothing on it as I've formatted it. Anyone know if I can get it to boot from the CD in anyway?
Shall I just give up and take it to the tip?
The computer is a Compaq Presario 5240 dating from circa 1999.
