I'm guessing some more anti islamic sentiment here.
There are some real gems on this petitions site.
Ban ALL Pornography: We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to make possession, production, & the sale of ALL pornographic material, illegal.
Stop the sale of Christmas Stock untill 1st December.
Ban the 'American' Halloween.
Ban learner drivers from taking lessons during morning rush hour.
Introduce tax for people with a B.M.I tax of 30 or over, i.e obese people.
Make horse owners pick up the horse poo.
We need to ban msn.
Get Rid Of Homework!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ban Sharia Law.
deport all immigrants who do not abide by UK laws and do not dress in british clothes.

I don't care what anyone says, slitting the throat of any animal is not a humane way of killing it, it would take a couple of minutes to die.

Sharia law is fine in the country in which it originated.
There is a fine associated with driving with foglights on and it costs 35 quid.

Pre-seasoned kosher/bled meat is apparently tastless. (i can't comment personally because I have never eaten it because i don't agree with the method of killing) but it is written in a heath book my girlfriend is reading.
As for the animal dying quickly, tell that to Ken Bigley, I was sent the video of him having his throat slit, he didn't seem to die quickly or painlessly.

I work at Brunel University in Uxbridge, all meat served in the canteen is now Halal (apart from Bacon, Sausages and Pork).
The only difference I can tell is a little sign next to the name on the board.

I have heard stories of when people had their heads cut OFF on the guillotine the eyes and mouth of the head would still move, the eyes would look around.
Slitting a throat does not give instant death I don't care what anyone says.
I think the only way you could have instant painless death was to be electocuted with a massive voltage or crushed to death by a massive weight.
A guy at a HV training course I attended said he saw a guy get vapourised by a 10,000v cable short, i'm sure he didn't feel much.
I must have seen one of the other horrific videos.Yeah herd the guillotine thing before. They say that the person would have enough time to comprehend for a split second what had happend and then would be dead. The eyes moving and stuff they say is nerve impulses.
I would agree there are better ways to kill animals but religon is religon and it is followed in many different weird and wonderfull ways. Think this is just one of these things that aint gonna change.

Yup i'll agree with you there. I know people have to eat but I still think following a 1000 (or wotever it is) year old book/law when there are better modern methods is crazy!

I agree there should not be a double standard, technically I think we are CofE not secular.
My beliefs are as follows:
All religions are made up by men to control their respective societies, just like our laws are now.
Most religious rules would have also been followed by an atheist intellectual at inception.
It was easier to say at inception 'because god says so' than to justify with scientific reasoning to someone with a very limited or complete lack of education.

That is of course until people start to drop dead left, right and centre from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

the whole point of halah food is that the animal is killed in a humane way...im no expert on the issue but from what ive read, heard its done via a single slit of the jugular vein which instantly kills the animal.....

A secular society, means that Religion and the State (Government) are seperate, not that we don't have an 'official' Religion, as such!
With the recent ruling by the current Dictatorship that the Church is NOT allowed a Religious 'opt-out' of the Gay adoption laws,,,,,, it makes the current Religious opt-out for Halah meat even more hypocritical........
